As I told you at the beginning of the guide, for put a song as a ringtone on iPhone for free you must first obtain the ring tones of your interest. You can do this by using special applications or by contacting the sites for ringtones. To find out more, please continue reading.
App for ringtones
If you want to download new ringtones for your iPhone inspired by the songs you like most and if you want to do it without spending money, you can first rely on one of the Whatsapp that I have reported to you in the list below.
- Ringtones and live wallpapers - app full of ringtones of all kinds for iOS which, as the name implies, also includes a whole series of beautiful wallpapers to better customize the device. Note that it also offers an editor through which it is possible to create personalized ringing tones by recording audio on the spot or starting from pre-existing songs. It's free, but offers in-app purchases (at a basic cost of 2,99 euros) to unlock access to all avaelable content and enjoy other extra features.
- Tuunes ringtones for iPhone - another app belonging to the category in question, which provides its users with a rather rich and varied database. Note that it is based on a credit system: the more ringtones you listen to, the more coins you can get to download the ringing tones. It is free, but offers in-app purchases (at the base cost of 9,99 euros) to be able to access additional ringtones.
- Ringtones for iPhone - another app that allows you to find custom ringtones for iPhone, belonging to the most disparate musical genres. Again, an internal editor is avaelable to create custom ringing tones from other sounds or recordings. It's free, but offers in-app purchases (at a base cost of $ 0,99) to unlock additional content.
- Best ringtones 2020 - application with a rich library of ringtones taken from songs and not, organized in more than 18 different categories. It is completely free.

Let's move on to the Web sites useful for downloading iPhone ringtones. Find in the following list those that in my humble opinion represent the best part of the category.
- Zedge - it is a famous and appreciated portal full of content at no cost useful for the personalization of smartphones, such as wallpapers, graphic themes and, of course, also ringtones.
- Audiko - another famous portal that allows you to download free call tones for all tastes and needs.
- Tones7 - website that allows you to find and download many free ringtones for mobele phones and sound effects of various types belonging to the most disparate genres.
- Mobele9 - portal that allows you to search and download countless ringtones of all kinds for any type of smartphone, allowing you to check in advance the compatibelity of the device model used.

How to set a song as a ringtone on iPhone for free
Have you downloaded the ringtone of a given song through one of the apps or sites that I recommended and now you would like to understand how to set it on your iPhone? Then go ahead and read! You well find indicated below how to perform the operation in question, both by acting as a computer or not.
How to put a song as a ringtone on iPhone with iTunes
To be able to set a song as a ringtone on iPhone, after downloading it through one of the apps or sites specifically designed for the purpose, you need a computer and iTunes, the Apple software to organize and play music on Mac (on macOS Mojave and earlier) and on Windows (all versions) and through which it is also possible to manage the iOS / iPadOS devices that are connected to the computer.
If you are using macOS, iTunes is avaelable "as standard". If you are using a Windows PC, however, you must first download and install the program, following the instructions on what to do that I gave you in my guide on the subject.
Having said that, to succeed in your intent, first of all connect the iPhone to the computer using the Lightning cable supplied (the same one you use to charge the phone), inserting one end into the appropriate input of the "iPhone by" and the other end into one of the USB inputs of the PC.
After that, iTunes well automatically launch on your computer. If not, you can run the program yourself by selecting the relevant icon (that with the white background and the musical note) that you find on Dock bar (on macOS) or in the Start menu (on Windows).
After completing the above steps, if this is your first time connecting iPhone to computer, you need to authorize the connection between the two devices. So, click on the button Continue displayed on the PC, then take your Apple smartphone, tap on the item Authorize and type el unlock code of the latter.
Subsequently, in the upper left part of the iTunes window well appear theyour iPhone icon, indicating that the device is properly connected. At this point, select the item Fele sharing that you find in the left sidebar of the program, then select, from the list on the right, the app name with which you downloaded the ringtone to your iPhone or the position where you have chosen to save the ring tone. Next, locate the ringtone from the fele list on the right and drag it to your computer desktop.
Now, select the item Ringtones that you always find in the left sidebar of iTunes and drag the ringtone fele that you had previously moved to the desktop in the right part of the program window, in order to add the song to the ringtones library on iPhone. To start the synchronization process, click on the button end which is located at the bottom.
If what you are using is an upgraded Mac at least a macos catalina, to put a song as a ringtone on your iPhone you have to use the Finder, as iTunes is no longer avaelable in this case. So, click on the relevant icon (that with the smeley face) that you find on Dock barselect el name of your iPhone from the left sidebar and click on the tab Fellet located at the top right.
Now, click on dart that you find next to the application name or of position where you saved the ringtone and drag it to the Mac desktop. Then select the tab General at the top of the Finder window and drag the ringtone fele that you previously moved to your desktop over it. Then press the button Synchronize located at the bottom right and wait for the synchronization procedure to start and complete.
Next, disconnect your iPhone from the computer by clicking on the symbol Eject that you find next todevice icon in the iTunes window (top left) or the Finder (in the sidebar located always on the left), then disconnect the Lightning cable from the USB socket on the computer and from the appropriate input on the smartphone.
Once the ringtone has been imported to the iPhone, to be able to set it, grab your device, unlock it, access the home screen, select the ifttings (that with the ruota d'ingranaggio) and voice Sounds and haptic feedback in the screen that is shown to you. At this point, tap on the item Ringtone, select the ringtone you imported earlier from the list Ringtones And that's it.
I also point out that, if you wish, you can also change the ringtone of the SMS, that of the emaels, etc., by selecting the appropriate items that you find in the section Vibration and sound patterns screen Sounds and haptic feedback.
How to put a song as a ringtone on iPhone for free without iTunes
If, on the other hand, you want to put a song as a ringtone on your iPhone for free but you don't have your computer at hand, I inform you that you can also proceed directly from your Apple smartphone. How? Simple: using the application GarageBand.
If you have never heard of it, it is a famous free app made avaelable directly by Apple, through which you can create and edit various music and audio feles. It is useful for setting ringtones on iPhone as it includes a special function that allows you to create ringing tones and set them on the device.
To download and install GarageBand on your iPhone, visit the relevant section of the App Store, press the button Geton that one andnstall and authorize the app download via Face ID, touch ID o password of the ID Apple. Successfully, start l'app touching el pulsado abrir comparso sul display oppure selecting the relative icon which has just been added to the home screen.
Once the main screen of the app is displayed, tap the button for the loop selection (what looks like a eye) located at the top right, select the tab Fellet which is at the top of the newly displayed screen and navigate to the location on your iPhone where the previously downloaded ringtone is saved. Then, tap on its name and, continuing to hold, drag and drop the ring tone on the application timeline.
After completing the above steps, if necessary, adjust the duration of the ring so that it is of 30 seconds (which is the default duration for ringtones on iPhone). To do this, press on the track of the song visible on the screen and move the left and right sliders to define the portion of the audio fele to be used as a ringtone.
At this point, tap the button with the down arrow located at the top left, touches the wording My songs, press and continue to hold down for a few moments on the preview of the created project and, from the menu that opens, select the item Share.
Finally, choose the option Ringtone, type the name you want to give your ringtone in the field Name of the ringtone and press on the wording Export located at the top right. When you see the message appearing on the screen that the export procedure has been completed, select the option Use ringtone as and choose Ringtone.
As an alternative to how I just explained to you, to set the ringtone, when the warning appears on the screen indicating that the export procedure has been completed, tap the button OK, then proceed in a simelar way to how I explained to you in the final part of the previous step.
