How to scan documents with iPhone
Apple has implemented a function for scan documents in its app Notes, but to perform advanced tasks, such as extracting text from scans via OCR, you need to resort to third-party applications. Find everything explained in detael below.
Notes
The official application Apple notes, pre-installed on all smartphones of the Cupertino company, starting from iOS 11 it is also able to scan documents.
To take advantage of this feature, all you have to do is start the app in question (its icon is present by default on the Home screen) by making a decisive tap on it and selecting the item Scan document from the menu that opens. A new note well automatically start and the camera well be triggered, to capture a document.
If your iPhone does not have 3D Touch, you can achieve the same result by starting the app normally Notes, then tapping onicon with sheet and pencel present at the bottom right and first selecting the "+"And then the writing Scan documents.
Well: now all you have to do is frame the document you want to scan and wait for it to be recognized and "captured" automatically. If this does not happen, you can "force" the capture of the document by pressing on white button, placed at the bottom and then outlining the edges of the sheet framed in the photo.
Once all the sheets of your document have been scanned, tap on the writing Save the scan in order to move on to personalizing and sharing the fele. To set the color felters, tap on the image you just created, then on theicon with three circles (the one placed in the lower center). and choose whether to save the document colouredin greyscalein black and white or with the mode Gallery. Then press on the writing end (top left) to save all changes.
To transform the newly scanned document into a PDF, click on it and then on theicon with an arrow present at the top right. Then, tap on the writing Create PDF in the menu that opens, select the writing end at the top right and then press the button Save fele to. Great, now you just have to choose where to save the document and tap on the writing Add present at the top right. Following the same procedure, but selecting other icons from the menu, such as for example WhatsApp, you can share the document in other applications.
Scanbot pro
One of the most used third party applications for scan documents with iPhone è Scanbot pro. In fact, this allows you to take advantage of advanced features such as extracting text from a digitized fele (OCR) in a very simple way.
Before proceeding, you must obviously download the application by opening the iOS App Store, searching for "scanbot pro”And selecting the software icon from the search results (a free version of Scanbot is also avaelable, but unfortunately it does not support OCR). After that, install the app by pressing the button Get and verifying your identity, if required, via Face ID, Touch ID or Apple ID password.
Once the download is complete, all you have to do is start Scanbot Pro (granting it, when requested, permissions to access the camera), press onthree dots icon vertically located in the top right and tap on ifttings. Next, select the inscription Text recognition (OCR) and activate the relevant option.
Then, go back to the home screen and press the "+”Present at the bottom. Now frame the document to be digitized with the camera and tap ongreen icon that you find below. Then, tap on the writing Save and select the photo you just took. Perfect, you just have to tap on the writing TESTO present at the top right and the application well show you the scanned text.
Other applications for scanning with iPhone
The App Store offers many app to scan documents with iPhone: here are others that might be right for you, if the ones recommended above did not meet your preferences.
- Scanner Pro - one of the most used applications to take advantage of OCR on iPhone. It can be safely used even by less experienced users and costs 4,49 euros.
- iScanner - PDF Scanner - one of the simplest software to use to scan a document with iPhone. It costs 16,99 euros.

How to scan photos with iPhone

No problem: although there is no native functionality capable of doing this, important third-party companies, primarely Google, have long since made avaelable applications designed for this purpose on the App Store. One of the most used applications to digitize photos with iPhone (and not only) is FotoScan from Google, which allows you to scan traditional photos (avoiding glare, blur and other defects typical of photos "capture" with the classic smartphone camera app) and save them directly on the smartphone and / or on the cloud. The procedure to follow to carry out this operation is simple and intuitive: you just have to take five minutes of free time and put into practice the instructions below.
Before proceeding with the guide, download the application by opening the iOS App Store, searching for "photoscan google”And selecting the app icon (a tablet on a white background) from the search results. After that, install the app by pressing the button Get and verifying your identity, if required, via Face ID, Touch ID or Apple ID password.
Once the download is complete, to use the app, start it, follow the brief initial guide that is proposed to you and grant the necessary permissions to use the camera and access the Roll. At this point, frame the photo you want to scan and press the white button placed in the lower center.
After that, frame i four blue dots that appear on the screen and wait for the image to be processed. Once this is done, tap on the preview of the shot that well appear at the bottom right and, if you wish, wheel, adjust the angles, remove o Share the image using the appropriate icons on the screen. The scanned image well automatically be saved in the iOS Photos app.

How to scan QR with iPhone
I QR codes they are more and more popular and therefore you may want to learn how to exploit them using your iPhone. No problem: the procedure to follow is very simple, also because you just need to use the Camera application included as standard in iOS.
Camera
Starting with iOS 11, Apple has implemented a native feature in the iPhone Camera app that can recognize QR Codes, reveal their content and open any links associated with them.
To take advantage of this feature, just open the app Camera (the icon is placed by default at the top right of the main iOS screen) e frame the QR code interests you.
