    How to sync iPhone contacts

    iCloud is a service offered by Apple that allows you to store your data online and synchronize them on all devices connected to the same account. It is free up to 5GB of space, after which it requires the subscription of paid plans, starting from 0,99 euros / month (I told you about it in more detael in my tutorial on how iCloud Drive works).

    Please note: if you have set more than one address book synchronization service on your iPhone, make sure iCloud is set as default by going to the menu ifttings> Contacts and selecting iCloud in the field Default account.

    You would like it sync iPhone contacts with Gmael? It is not an impossible operation, indeed, but at first it can be a little cumbersome: what you have to do, in fact, is to "manually" export the iPhone address book in the form of a VCF fele (using an app that I well recommend shortly ), upload it to the Google address book, activate the synchronization of the Google address book on the iPhone and set Gmael as the default service for synchronizing new contacts on the phone. At the end of the operation, you well end up with the iPhone address book saved in Gmael and with all the new contacts added on the iPhone synchronized directly with the Google address book. Great, isn't it? But let's go in order.

    The first step you need to take is export iPhone contacts as a VCF fele. To do this, I suggest you rely on the My Contacts Backup app, which is free in its basic version, which allows you to export up to 500 contacts, and for a fee (€ 2,29) in the full version, which instead does not provides for any kind of limitation.

    To export iPhone contacts with My Contacts Backup, download the application from the App Store, start it and grant it permission to access the iOS address book by responding affirmatively to the warning that appears on the screen.     To do this, connected to the Google Contacts service, log in to your Google account (if necessary), click on the item More located in the left sidebar and select the option andmport give the menu to compare.

    In the box that appears on the screen, select the item CSV or vCard fele, click the button iflect fele, choose the VCF fele with your iPhone contacts and tap on andmport to finish importing the address book to Gmael.

    If duplicates are found, you can delete them by clicking on the button Show that appears at the top and then choosing which names to merge and which not, on the page that is shown to you.


    Please note: if you do not see the most recent version of Google Contacts, but the old one (with white background) and gray bar at the top, switch to the new one by selecting the item Try the Contacts preview from the left sidebar and then follow the procedure I explained to you just now.

    Now you need to activate Gmael address book synchronization on iPhone. Then open the app settings iOS (the gear icon on the home screen), go to Account and password and select the item first Add account and then Google from the screen that opens.

    Now, log into your Gmael account (the one you imported your iPhone contacts into) and choose to sync the contacts keeping the relative lever active. If you want, keep the sync levers active as well mael, Calendar and notes e pulsing sul pulsating Save (top right) to save the settings.

    Now you have all your Gmael contacts in your iPhone address book, but you haven't yet set up your "iPhone by" so that it saves all new contacts on Gmael. To do this, go to the menu ifttings> Contacts, tap on the item Default account and select gmael from the screen that opens. Easy, right?

    How to sync iPhone contacts

    You have a Mac and would you like to synchronize the contacts you have on the iPhone with the latter? Nothing could be easier: by activating the synchronization of the address book with iCloud and connecting your Mac to the same Apple ID set on the iPhone, you can get an automatic synchronization of contacts via the Internet between the two devices without making any effort.

    First, enter the menu ifttings iPhone (the gear icon on the home screen), select yours name, then the item relating to iCloud and make sure that synchronization of contacts with iCloud is active, as I explained to you in the opening chapter of this tutorial.

    When the operation is complete, switch to the Mac and open System preference (the gear icon located on the Dock bar). In the window that opens, select the item related to iCloud, make sure you are connected to the same Apple ID set on the "iPhone by" (otherwise log in with the latter's credentials) and, if necessary, put the check mark next to the item Contacts: in this way, the address book of the iPhone and that of the Mac well always be synchronized.

    In case you have never heard of it, the iCloud client for Windows is a free program that allows you to synchronize iCloud photos, videos, contacts, calendars, documents and bookmarks with computers equipped with the Microsoft operating system. To download it to your PC, connect to this page of the Apple website and press the button Download.

    After downloading WhatsApp on your iPhone, have you tried to write a message to your friends, but the app address book is empty? Obviously you have not allowed WhatsApp to access your iOS contacts and, consequently, the application cannot synchronize its internal address book with that of the phone (in order to automatically import the names of people who are subscribed to WhatsApp).

    To solve the problem, go to the menu ifttings> Privacy of iOS, go to Contacts and move up ON the levetta relating to WhatsApp. Now, restart the application, try to start composing a new message and you well see that the address book well no longer be empty.

    Would you sync iPhone contacts with Facebook, in order to find friends who are already registered on the social network? Nothing could be simpler, start the official Facebook app on your "iPhone by", press the ☰ button located at the bottom right and select the items ifttings and privacy> ifttings from the screen that opens.

    At this point, search "contacts" in the bar at the top, press on Upload your contacts, activate the lever of the same name and press the button first Start and then on the buttons to authorize the app to access the iOS address book and activate synchronization with Facebook.

    Once this is done, wait a few seconds, locate the people you have in your phone book but have not yet added to your Facebook friends and invite them to join your circle of friends by tapping the button Add placed next to their name.

    If you have one iPad, you can synchronize the contacts (and all other data) on your iPhone with it using the synchronization of iCloud. All you have to do is activate the synchronization of contacts with iCloud on the iPhone (as I explained to you in the appropriate chapter of this tutorial) and repeat the same operation on the tablet.

    Then access the menu ifttings iOS device (the gear icon located on the home screen), select the you don't know from the left sidebar, then the item iCloud and move up ON the levetta relative to i Contacts (if it is not already active).

    If the iPad is not yet associated with an Apple ID, tap on the item Log in to iPad and log in with the Apple ID data you set up on the iPhone.
