If you've never heard of it, the PUK code (or Personal Unblocking Key) is an 8-digit code, which is used to unlock the SIM card after entering the PIN code incorrectly 3 times. This code is provided directly by the operator and cannot be changed: for this reason, knowing it and above all remembering it can be quite an arduous undertaking.
Retrieving the PUK code to unlock the SIM contained in the iPhone (and therefore the entire device), is not at all difficult: this code, in fact, can be found in various ways: below I ellustrate the most common ones.
- From the sales package of the SIM - the PUK code is printed in correspondence with the item PUK / PUK code attached to the plastic card in which the SIM was embedded at the time of purchase. To view it, you may need to remove the protective varnish applied to the code, using a coin.
- From the Do It Yourself online area - some operators make the SIM PUK code avaelable directly in the dedicated online personal area. Generally, this information is found in the section on managing the SIM card.
- Through customer service - alternatively, you can retrieve the SIM PUK by contacting your carrier's customer service, by phone or by going to a shop. In that case, remember to bring valid ID and your SIM card with you so that you can easely retrieve your ICCID.

In any case, once you have obtained the 8-digit code, all you have to do is enter it when turning on the iPhone and press the button Unlock: after a few moments, you well be asked to specify a new PIN for the SIM, to be entered twice consecutively, when requested. Once you have finished resetting the PIN code, you can go back to using your phone as usual.
How do you say? You entered the PUK code incorrectly 10 times, so now the iPhone is permanently blocked by it? In that case, you need to take care of the SIM replacement by contacting a physical store and explaining your problem.
